spanners everywhere

this morning my boss dropped one huge mf bomb on my lap... she gave me a counter offer that i almost cannot refuse... a few thousand per month more than my new job!!! why is she doing this now? why am i worth more now all of a sudden... I'm almost pissed off about it... and then I'm flattered... sort of... and so on and so on... but i decided to not think about the money and still take the job i was offered at the other company... long term thinking sucks... i am such an adult eh? LOL... so there it is... i wasn't expecting this and i actually wish she never offered me more... I'm still due 2 weeks holiday before i leave, so my last working day will be next Friday... then i have another two weeks holiday before i start the new job... cool yes?

i thought so :)

Very cool to have some leave before you start at the new job, sweets.

It's a pity that so many companies only want to pay you what you're worth after you've resigned. In the meantime, they're quite happy to get away with paying you as little as possible.

Hmmm, I don't know what to think about that. In a way it's always nice to know that the company you're leaving thinks they need you that much ... but then really they shoulda given you an increase long ago if they're now willing to increase your salary by a few thousand!! And you are absolutely doing the right thing ... a job is not just about the paycheck, you have to spend so many hours of so many days there, you'd better be in an environment that makes you feel happy & appreciated :) Enjoy the 2 weeks holiday, I'm sure you deserve them!

Too little Too late..

Dont let her sidetrack you and derail your intentions.. don't forget what a prize twat she has been! AND if she can afford a few thousand extra..why not pay out your leave??

I am concerned though about you taking leave again .. you seem to have way too much fun, watch woman barter for men, and spend indecent amounts of money..

;-)

Out of curiosity, did you ask your old boss why now, all of a sudden are they willing to pay you so much more? I would also feel slightly pissed off...

Yup. This is the way snotty bosses operate. Good on you for not taking her counter offer. A change is as good as a holiday and you're doing both, so it must be double good. I think to psyche yourself up for the new job and then settle for the old one again wouldn't be too cool.

I'm glad you decided to stick to the new job....you would probably have found that you were looking for a new job again in 6 months time had you accepted the counter offer.

Lots and lots of holiday time....noice!!!!!

it's good to have you back on duty tho:)

WTF! How annoyingly typical. I think it's great that you are still sticking with the new job though, even if it is slightly less money - job satisfaction counts for a lot.

Thousands extra? Are you mad?! Um, no need to answer that :-P

Sanity is more important than extra money.

p.s. psssst you could break into her safe some night and ........ actually forget that. I said nothing! :-D

Wow talk about screwing with your mind and destabilising your decisions. Why didn't she offer that to you when you told her you were leaving?

Well, I agree with everyone else. They really should have thought about letting you know you're appreciated sooner. Also, thinking about the future = responsible and good. :)

Stick to your guns! Money isn't everything...

Have fun with your time off, it's always nice to have a break between jobs.

I think this is a really good thing. It looks good to be able to say you got a counter offer and down the road, if you ever want to go back, I think you can ask for lots of money and they will take you back! cool!
